Weekend in Salisbury

While we were disappointed that Bex, Gus, Amanda and Blair's flight to the USA was canceled and we were unable to see them as planned, we had a lovely time at Mo's parents' home. A few of the highlights:

We set out to hike up to Lions Head via the Appalachian Trail, however

our journey was cut a bit short as we ran into three wet, cold AT hikers from Alabama that had been out on the trail for a week and a half, had not packed for the cold temperatures and had been stuck in an unbelievable rain, lightning and wind storm the previous night. They were hunkered down in a clearing by a stream about 3/4 of the way up the ridge. Their gear was soaked, they were frozen and they were desperate to get to a bus, a rental car, or a taxi service. As there are none of the above down in sleepy little Salisbury, we volunteered to take them to the closest train station where they could get a train to New York City. Although we heard later that this good deed could have been "a little risky," we had a fun trip getting to know Matt, Rodney and Adam and they were incredibly appreciative. And while they stunk up the car for the 30 minute ride, they never attempted to harm, rob or otherwise put us in any danger...

We spent several hours chilling at the pool, making up fun games of luck and skill to pass the time. I begrudgingly announce that Mo is the current (but NOT future) PoolGutter Hockey Champion. Grrrrrrr...
