The Countdown is On!

The Expedition begins at Kiawah, where the entire Kauff clan is gathering to celebrate Mike's 70th birthday. 4 days of sand, sun and salt water in one of my favorite places in the world.

From there, we jump in the Dodge Charger (or similar) (and God help them if they try to give Mo or similar...) and head south to Beaufort. Which looks like a really pretty little place. (Thanks Greg and John!)

Then we're crossing off one of the items on my long-standing Cities-I-MUST-Visit-Before-I-Shuffle-Off-This-Mortal-Coil list: Savannah. Mo's even reading "the book" -- and somewhat surprisingly, enjoying it...

Then we'll put on our Muscle Car playlist, rev the engine really loudly and continue south to Jekyll Island. Home of the Federal Reserve. Not sure what that means, really, but I know Mo does!

We end the Expedition in the Nation's oldest city -- St. Augustine. We plan to follow the footsteps of Ponce de Leon (constantly on) and sip from the Fountain of Youth (not Robotron). Hey, can't hurt, right?

And then we fly home. While we're away, Cousin LeeLee, husband Deano and baby Catie are coming from Scotland to stay here at 16 in what was originally supposed to be an inter-continental house-swap... Although our reciprocal trip to Bridge of Allan has been temporarily postponed, we are very much looking forward to getting over there again soon. Now, to prepare for a number of milestone celebrations with the Kauff family! (Not to mention exploring the Palmetto Coast in the Charger.)
