Day Four!

Now I'm on my own! DickieJ packed his truck up, and off he went. Of course, prior to leaving this afternoon, he insulated the window frame, replaced the window apron, sealed all of the knots in the bookshelves and window casing, gave the counter a third coat of poly, filled all of the nail holes, installed a door latch, cuddled with Rosie, trimmed and primed the downstairs bookcase trim and set out the primer, paint and brushes that I will need over the next few days. Unbelievable. I couldn't accomplish that over a month, never mind a morning! Inspired, I set out to prime all of the bookcases by nightfall. Below, the shelves in their initial white stage.
N.B.: Clock says 6:05. Can we call that nightfall?

Why is there a picture of a door with a cat lying on the floor? Well, a) you can still see the paint all over Rosie's tail - that was fun to try to clean off! and b) The door. Since we moved in here almost three years ago, our bedroom door has never closed. Not never latched - never CLOSED. We didn't even have a latch because the door was so racked that there was no point. Dickie cut the door down to fit, and then - will wonders never cease? - installed a real live, working door latch! You can now open the door from both sides! Amazing!

So, it's painting tomorrow and the last coat of poly on the counter. Saturday will be figuring out the under-counter curtains and BOOKS! Thanks, Dad! Thanks to Mom for letting Dad stay here for the week! Hope you didn't have any big parties while he was gone. (Oh, wait, that was what I would have done - never mind...)
