Conditioning Hike 2!

First and foremost, please note the proper footwear on my hiking companion:

And, accordingly, please note that I have on every piece of hiking accoutrement known to man for the short (but steep!) hike up to Lion's Head.

Mo at the bottom before the last scramble up the rocks to the lookout. White hash mark is for the Appalachian Trail -- even though we're only on it for a short part of the hike, we still say that we "hiked the AT." Shhhhh...

The payoff when you get to the top is glorious. Thankfully the weather was as well.

Amanda and Blair were on from London (with Bex and Gus).

Walking down the hill from the trail, the house seemed to rise magically out of the trees.

And hiding inside the privet hedge seen above were Gus, Bex, Ellen and Mike. They were "awaiting our return" in the big-kids pool and the (way cooler) dragon kiddie-pool/slide. We had our boots off and suits on in about 7.5 seconds and were doing under-water handstand contests like it was our job. Good times.

Next week: Wachusett!
